Geologists have created a number of terms to describe different rock structures in the landscape that can be formed by natural processes.
Rocks are classified by their origin or how they are formed. There are three types of rocks: sedimentary (formed by sedimentation), igneous (formed out of the magma) and metamorphic (formed from other rocks).
