Sydney Festival of Summer 2012 January 7-29 is a unique celebration of visual and performing arts. The festival started from 7th of January and will continues till the 29th of January, thus including the celebrations of the Australia Day, which happens each year on the 26th of January.

During Sydney festival 2012, people will be able to enjoy dramatic plays, melodious music, enthralling dances and magical art.

The diversity of events is scheduled to take place inside the city of Sydney as well as in its distant suburbs.

The traditional opening night of the festival comprised of many free events, which took place all throughout the city. Some of the events, which happened on the opening night of the Sydney festival 2012, are an eight-hour long dancing program in DJ Norman Jay’s double-decker bus. It was parked in Hyde Park. There was an aerial performance called the World Tipped, which staged in Hyde Park on College Street and a lively dance show. This was presented by the Sirens Big Band and the Jolly Boys, on Elizabeth Street. There were also special shows for children at Hyde Park, like the Caspar Babypants, Erth’s puppets and Holly Throsby.

The New South Wales’s art gallery stayed open till midnight, flooded with film, music and other performances. Everyone was allowed to enter the gallery absolutely for free. However, people were required paying an entrance fee to view the Picasso exhibition.
