Train enthusiasts and celebrity-watchers alike will find common cause for excitement as Rosario Dawson Joins Amtrak To Celebrate National Train Day.  The A-list actress will lead the ceremonies taking place around the country on May 12, 2012.

Amtrack chose Rosario Dawson as spokesperson for the 2012 National Train Day because of her affinity for trains, which stretches back to her childhood.  “So many of my very first memories of travel as a kid in New York City were on the train,” says Dawson. “I remember riding on Amtrak and jumping up at the first opportunity to visit the café car. It’s great to be able to walk around, hang out and grab a bite at my leisure. I’m always watching the fast changing scenery through the windows which can be as mesmerizing as a film. It always makes the trip so much more vivid.”

The 2012 National Train Day events will take place in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles and Philadelphia.  This year’s celebrations will focus on the unique perspective of the American landscape that trains provide.

Rosario Dawson has starred in major feature films such as Men in Black II, Rent, and Clerks II.  She has also worked as a singer, writer, and activist.

Also, we only run on selected Saturdays. Go to Ride the Train on the website and also view 2011 Excursions for additional information. The cost for adults is $75 per person; Seniors (60 and older) is $65; Youth (16 and younger) is $35. Children 3 and younger are free. These prices include lunch, served on the train.
