The Xingó Canyon is located in Canindé do São Francisco, on the banks of the lengthy and well-known São Francisco river. It is the world’s fifth most navigable river. The river is formed in a valley reaching up to 170 m deep, being 65 km long and at certain locations between 50 and 300 m wide. The water volume of the canyon is about 3.8 billion m3.

The rocks guard traces of the area’s first inhabitants who lived there more than 8,000 years ago.

Lake Braies is a pearl among Dolomite lakes. The Lago di Braies is situated in the homonymous valley, the Val di Braies, which diverts from Val Pusteria between Villabassa and Monguelfo. This lake, located in the heart of the Braies Dolomites, is characterised by its unique position in the north of the nature park Fanes-Sennes-Braies. The geological origin of the emerald green lake is referable to a reservoir dam, consequence of a mudflow.

According to legends, the south end of the lake, where the Croda del Becco (2,810 m) is situated, there was the gate to the underworld. This is also why the Ladin name of the Croda del Becco is “Sass dla Porta”, which means “gate mountain”.

The Homestead Caldera, known locally as “The Crater” is a natural hot spring surrounded by a rock dome. It is located in Midway, Utah. It is a commercial location open year round to scuba divers and swimmers. Originally, it was accessed from a large natural opening at the top of the dome, but has since had a tunnel blasted through horizontally for easy access. The Crater began forming 10,000 years ago, and is made of minerals deposited by the rising, heated spring water.
