Philippines is an archipelago of nearly 7,000 islands situated north of the Malayan Peninsula in South East Asia. Katibawasan Falls is one of the treasured gifts nature has blessed the island of Camiguin. According to the locals, the Waterfalls measures about 250 feet high, cascades to a rock pool surrounded by ground orchids, wild ferns, trees and boulders.The falls rushes down into its green pool that is really refreshing for a good swim. Tourist are welcome to swim.
The natural flora and marine fauna of this land is mesmerizing. Katibawasan Falls in Philippines is a famous tourist attraction in Philippines. It is an ideal place to cool off during hot and humid days. There is however an entrance fee of few pesos per person since the falls is maintained by the province. Giant ferns decorate the surrounding land, carpeting the spaces and huge trees and dropping vines provides the backdrop the falls.
It is one of the many waterfalls Camiguin has to offer. It is located 5 kilometers southeast of Mambajao at the foot of Mt.Timpoong. It is about 250 feet which cascades 70 meters into a rock pool surrounded by trees, wild ferns and the like. It is very ideal for swimming as the falls tumble down into the green pool. As far as the meaning of the word is concern, I have have not found its meaning in Cebuano or bisaya, but I can relate it with the illonggo dialect for the word “Katibawasan” which means: “To have overcome”.
Katibawasan Falls is ideal for summer splash to tourists as it provide ice cold water. Indeed a nice place to cool off during hot and humid days. Picnic tables, seats and cookout facilities are available for use.
